Overview
Estimates (quotes) are where you price work and send proposals to customers. Dirt Face supports two estimate types:
| Type | Use for |
|---|---|
| Fence estimate | Layout on a map or blueprint, material takeoffs from My Fences templates, labor and install pricing |
| Generic estimate | Service lines, fees, and catalog products without fence layout drawing |
Both types share customer selection, proposal steps, send/submit, and convert-to-job when applicable.

Choose the right estimate type

| Chain link, vinyl, wood, ornamental, and other fence jobs | Repairs, removals, non-fence services, custom line-item quotes |
| Uses the fence design tool for layout and takeoffs | Line items entered on the create screen; no designer |
| Setup wizard: fence type → style → height/color → canvas | Services list + payment terms on one page |
Create menu → Estimate starts a fence estimate. Generic estimates use New Estimate with source=generalQuote (Create menu or list action when available).
