Overview
The demo account is a shared, fully working Dirt Face company filled with sample catalog items, fence templates, customers, estimates, jobs, and related records. Use it as a sandbox: click around, create quotes and invoices, try POS or production features, and learn how My Components and fence templates fit together—without making a mess in your own account.
Nothing you do in the demo changes your real company data. When you leave the demo, you return to your own login and workspace.
Where in the app: Dashboard → Get started card → Open demo account
Open: Dashboard
New tenants may also see a one-time invitation popup to open the demo account.
Why use it
| Goal | How the demo account helps |
|---|---|
| Learn the app safely | Practice estimates, jobs, invoices, store/POS, and more on sample data |
| Understand the catalog | Browse My Components, assemblies, vendors, and pricing already set up |
| Understand fence templates | Open My Fences and see how heights, posts, panels, and gates map to components |
| Decide what to build at home | Copy ideas for naming, BOM structure, and template layout into your own account later |
| Onboard teammates | Let new staff click through a loaded company before they edit live data |
Your own account starts emptier until you import components and build templates. The demo account shows the “finished puzzle” so the setup checklist makes more sense.
How to open the demo account
- Sign in to your Dirt Face account.
- On the Dashboard, find the Get started card.
- Choose Open demo account.
- The app reloads into the demo company (you’ll see demo theming / exit controls).
You can open the demo account anytime the Get started card is visible—not only during first onboarding.
How to leave the demo account
Use Exit Demo Account from the user menu (profile menu in the header). That returns you to your own company and dashboard.
Do not treat the demo account as your permanent workspace. Always exit when you are ready to configure or sell from your real account.
What you can try
The demo is a full account. Typical practice areas:
| Area | Ideas to try |
|---|---|
| My Components | Open parts, assemblies, vendors/costs; see how panels and posts are structured |
| My Fences | Open fence templates; note how components attach to heights and gates |
| Estimates | Create or edit a quote; walk material list and proposal |
| Jobs | Convert or open a job; review materials and workflow |
| Scheduling | Browse the calendar if sample events exist |
| Sales / invoices | Create or review invoices and payments on sample customers |
| Store / POS | If enabled on the demo, practice checkout and counter sale flows |
| Inventory / production | Explore stock and shop features when present on the demo plan |
Exact sample content can change as Dirt Face refreshes the shared demo. Treat it as a living sandbox, not a fixed training script.
What stays separate from your account
| In the demo | In your account |
|---|---|
| Shared sample company | Your real company |
| Sample catalog and templates | Your imports and templates |
| Practice quotes, jobs, invoices | Your live customers and jobs |
| Writable—others may use it too | Private to your tenant |
Because the demo is shared and writable, another learner might change or delete sample records. That is expected. Do not store passwords, real customer PII, or production pricing you care about inside the demo.
Warning: Do not enter real customer names, phone numbers, or email addresses in the demo account. The demo is fully functional—sending a quote, invoice, or other message can email whatever address you enter. Use fake sample contacts only (for example
demo.customer@example.com).
Tips for learning the catalog and templates
- Start in My Components — pick a panel or post and open the Assembly tab to see the recipe (BOM).
- Open My Fences — find a template that uses that part and see how the fence/railing template points at catalog SKUs.
- Build a new estimate in the demo using that template so you see the material list fill in.
- Note naming and structure you like, then recreate the pattern in your account with your real parts (Smart Import, warehouse import, or manual entry).

Limitations to keep in mind
- The demo is for learning, not for real customer work or official records.
- Emails and similar outbound messages can actually send to addresses you enter—never use real customer contact info.
- Data can be reset or edited by Dirt Face or other demo users.
- Features depend on what is enabled on the demo company; your plan may differ.
- Integrations (for example QuickBooks) in the demo are not your live connections.
