Overview

The Gates step lists every gate style the template supports — walk gates, double drives, cantilevers, and similar. Each gate defines width, height rules, gate posts, hardware, and optional terminal-post behavior.

Where in the app: Template wizard → Gates (step 5)
Open: Fence Builder

Add a gate

  1. Click Add gate.
  2. Enter a name (for example, 3 ft Walk Gate, 10 ft Double Drive).
  3. Set width and how height relates to the fence (match fence height or custom).
  4. Choose whether the gate uses a terminal post or a dedicated gate post component.
  5. Add gate hardware rows (hinges, latches, closers, drop rods) from My Components.
  6. Configure each height and color combination in the setup modal.
  7. Save the gate.

Gate hardware

Hardware rows work like component rows: pick catalog parts and quantities per combination. Typical items include hinges, latch assemblies, gate frames, and tension devices for chain link.

Step-by-step

  1. Complete Components and continue to Gates.
  2. Add every gate size you quote for this template.
  3. Configure posts and hardware for each gate.
  4. Confirm status indicators show complete for all gates.
  5. Click Save and continue to move to Time.

Tips

  • Gates added here also appear on the Time step for per-gate labor entries.
  • If a gate shares the same post as a terminal post on the layout, use Used as terminal post when that matches your install method.
