Overview
Import Components (CSV) adds parts from a spreadsheet when you already maintain a fixed export format with column headers for part number, description, and cost. You map each column to Dirt Face fields before the import runs.
Where in the app: Sidebar → Fence → My Components → Catalog tools → Import Components (CSV)
Open: Import Components (CSV)
Before you import
- Export from your vendor or ERP with columns: name, part number, cost (minimum)
- Optional columns: color, UOM, vendor, bundle qty, weight
- Remove customer contact columns (email, phone). They are not needed for parts
Step 1: Open import
- Go to Fence → My Components. Open My Components
- Open Catalog tools → Import Components (CSV). Open Import Components (CSV)
Step 2: Upload and map columns
- Upload your
.csvor.xlsxfile - Match each spreadsheet column to Dirt Face fields
- Preview a few rows before confirming
Step 3: Review and commit
- Resolve duplicate part numbers (skip, update, or create new)
- Assign section and category if the file does not include them
- Run the import and verify counts in My Components
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| Wrong costs on quotes | Re-import with cost mapped to vendor price, not retail |
| Duplicates | Normalize part numbers (trim spaces, leading zeros) before import |
| Missing categories | Bulk-assign category after import from the catalog grid |
