Overview
Export Catalog to CSV downloads My Components as a spreadsheet. Export the full catalog or narrow the file by fence section, category, collection, or search text before you download.
The export includes part names, reference numbers, costs, vendor details, pricing tiers, inventory fields, and other catalog metadata. Use it for backup, offline review, or editing in Excel before you re-import changes through the appropriate catalog tool.
Where in the app: Sidebar → Fence → My Components → Catalog tools → Export Catalog to CSV
Open: My Components (then Catalog tools)
When to use this tool
Use Export Catalog to CSV when you need a snapshot of your catalog outside Dirt Face: auditing parts, sharing a list with your team, or preparing data for a bulk edit workflow.
This export does not update your catalog. To bring changes back in, use Import Components (CSV) for new parts or Import Vendor Costs (CSV) for price sheet updates. See Related.
Step 1: Open Export Catalog to CSV
- Go to Fence → My Components. Open My Components
- Click Catalog tools on the toolbar.
- Choose Export Catalog to CSV.
Step 2: Set filters (optional)
The export dialog starts with all filters open so you can export everything.
| Filter | Effect |
|---|---|
| Section | Limit to one fence type (chain link, vinyl, ornamental, and others) |
| Category | Limit to one component category within the selected section |
| Collection | Limit to one collection within the selected category |
| Search | Match part name, part number, SKU, or similar reference fields |
Leave filters at All Sections / All categories / All collections to export your entire catalog. Category and collection filters unlock only after you pick a section; collection unlocks after you pick a category.
Step 3: Download the file
- Click Export CSV.
- Wait for the download to finish. The file is named
catalog-export-YYYY-MM-DD.csv. - Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets, or another spreadsheet app.
The CSV includes one row per component with columns for identification (name, system number, part numbers), fence type and category, costs and pricing tiers, primary vendor fields, packaging, inventory settings, and status flags.
Tip: Export a single section or collection when you only need to review or edit one product line. Full-catalog exports can be large.
