How to Get More Google Reviews as a Fence Contractor

Ask every fence customer for a Google review automatically after the job, hear about problems privately first, and stay inside Google's rules.

Overview

Most fence contractors get far fewer Google reviews than they have happy customers, because asking is a manual step that gets skipped on busy weeks. Dirt Face asks for you. When a job is invoiced, it messages the customer, optionally collects a private star rating first, and then invites every customer to review you on Google. No cherry-picking, which is what Google and the FTC require.

What you will get

  • A review request for every eligible job, not just the ones you remember
  • An early warning when a customer is unhappy, before they post publicly
  • A clear count of how many customers opened your Google review page
  • Ratings by crew and by month so you can see where quality slips

Step 1: Finish the job in Dirt Face

Review requests key off job status. When the final invoice is created (or when the job is marked Work Complete or Closed, if you prefer), the clock starts. Deposit invoices do not trigger anything.

Step 2: Let the private rating come in

With the recommended two-step flow, the customer first gets a short text or email asking for 1 to 5 stars. A low rating alerts your office and creates a follow-up task. This is your chance to fix a sticking gate before it becomes a one-star review.

Step 3: Every customer gets the Google invite

A few days later, every customer who was asked receives the same invitation to review you on Google, whether they rated 5 stars, 1 star, or did not answer. Dirt Face is built so the invite cannot be filtered by rating. That keeps you compliant and keeps your Google reviews honest.

Step 4: Reply and track

Reply to each Google review from your Business Profile. In Dirt Face, watch the response rate, Google click rate, and crew averages, and work the follow-up queue until it is empty.

Who gets asked

You choose customer types (homeowners by default), whether material-only sales count, and how long to wait before asking the same customer again. Customers who opt out are never contacted again.
