Overview
Dirt Face includes timesheets for fence contractors who want crew hours in the same system as estimates, jobs, and scheduling. Workers clock against jobs or overhead activities; managers approve weeks; approved job hours feed job costing, and summary exports support payroll handoff.

Step 1: Turn on timesheets for the company
Use a Crew plan or higher, enable the operations portal, set pay periods under Timesheets settings, and turn on time tracking per employee.
Step 2: Clock or log hours during the week
Crew members open the Time card (or My time for office-only users), clock into an active job or an overhead activity, or log hours after the fact. Scheduled field jobs can also capture time from the job page.
Step 3: Submit the week
At period end, each worker reviews draft entries and submits the week for manager approval.
Step 4: Approve and export
Managers open Approve timesheets, review the pay period, approve or reject entries, then download summary reports for payroll or rely on QuickBooks TimeActivity when sync is enabled. Approved job hours update job costing.
FAQ
Does Dirt Face run payroll?
No. Dirt Face tracks hours and estimated burdened labor for job costing. You export hours to your payroll provider or sync time to QuickBooks Online.
Can office staff use timesheets without the field portal?
Yes. Office-only users with time tracking enabled use My time from the avatar menu. The same approval and export path applies.
Do overhead hours affect job cost?
No. Only hours clocked to a job post to that job's labor actuals after approval. Overhead activities still count toward attendance and payroll exports.
