Overview
Link Template connects a shop drawing sheet to a fence template from My Fences. When linked, specification rows on the workspace can pull from that template so the printed sheet matches what you quote.
Where in the app: Shop Drawing workspace → Link Template zone
Open: Shop Drawings → open a drawing
Why link a template
| Benefit | Detail |
|---|---|
| Consistent specs | Post size, fabric, gates, and notes match the template used on estimates |
| Less retyping | Spec tables populate from template data instead of manual entry |
| Quote alignment | Install drawing reflects the same fence system the customer approved |
Build your catalog and templates before relying on auto-loaded specs.
How to link
- Open the drawing in the workspace.
- Click the Link Template zone.
- Choose a fence template from My Fences.
- Review Edit Specs; adjust rows that should differ for this job site.
Changing the linked template updates available spec sources. Save the sheet after linking.
Graphics vs specifications
Link Template affects specification tables on the printable sheet. Elevations and detail graphics still live in the Shop Drawing Designer. Update technical drawings on that canvas; update product specs through the template link and Edit Specs.
Site layout (where the fence runs on the property) is handled separately in the fence design tool when building the estimate.
