Overview
PDF problems usually come from incomplete proposal steps, pop-up blockers, or missing company branding — not a broken printer.
Where in the app: Estimate → Proposal steps → Documents / Submit
Open: Estimates
PDF download does nothing
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| Pop-up blocked | Allow pop-ups for dirtface.com in browser settings |
| Tab closed too fast | Wait for the PDF tab or download to finish |
| Ad blocker | Temporarily disable for Dirt Face and retry |
Try Download PDF again from the Submit step after allowing pop-ups.
Blank or missing fence layout on PDF
Fence proposals attach a layout drawing from the designer.
- Open the estimate and confirm a drawing exists — use Edit Drawing on the Summary step if needed
- Complete the Documents proposal step and include the layout sheet
- Regenerate PDF from Submit

Missing logo or company info
Proposal headers pull from Company Info:
- Upload logo there and save
- Re-open the estimate PDF after updating branding
Cover letter content comes from Default Values → Cover letter.
Print dialog looks wrong

| Colors missing | Enable Background graphics in browser print settings |
Printing directly from the browser preview (without downloading PDF) can clip wide proposal layouts.
Generic estimate PDF differs from fence
Generic quotes may not include a map layout PDF — only fence estimates with a designer drawing attach the site layout. Confirm estimate type on create.
Shop drawing or attachment missing
Attachments selected on the Documents step must be checked before Submit. Large files may take a few seconds to merge into the package.

Email sent but customer says PDF broken
- Download the same PDF yourself from the estimate Submissions tab
- If yours opens fine, ask the customer to try another device or forward the PDF instead of inline preview
- If yours is also blank, fix the proposal steps above and resend
