Overview
Estimate issues during setup usually trace back to onboarding (catalog, templates, tax) or an incomplete proposal step.

“No fence template” or empty materials
You need at least one template in My Fences before fence estimates can price correctly.
- Complete Onboarding checklist Phase 3
- Create or import templates — Fence templates
- Re-open the estimate and pick fence type/style on setup
Designer map will not load
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| No job site address | Add a Job Site address on the customer before opening the designer |
| Browser blocking location | Allow location for the site if using GPS map mode |
| Slow connection | Wait 30s; switch to Blueprint or Blank canvas from Canvas and setup |
Zero quantities or missing parts
Catalog must be populated before estimating:
- Run Smart Import or add components manually
- Confirm the fence template references components that exist in My Components
- Click Preview Quote again after catalog changes
Tax shows $0 or wrong rate
| Check | Guide |
|---|---|
| Job site address | Tax often derives from customer job site — verify on customer record |
| Sales tax setup | Sales tax |
| Tax-exempt customer | Customer info — exemption toggles skip tax |
| Default tax on customer | Set Default Tax Rate when adding the customer |
Cannot proceed on proposal steps
Each step must be visited and saved. Common blockers:
| Step | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Materials | At least one line with quantity |
| Totals | Review totals before Documents |
| Documents | Select proposal PDFs/attachments to include |
| Submit | Recipients configured |
See Proposal steps.
